New Jersey Tries To Prosecute A Security Guard

https://www.njiat.com/x-RooseveltTwyne.html

Mr. Roosevelt Twyne, an African-American, 25-year-old security guard, alleged that an officer of the Roselle Park Police Dept. in Roselle Park, New Jersey made an illegal arrest. Looking at the allegations made in the above article and facts presented, it is a disgrace what this officer did and for the Union County Prosecutor's Office to move forward with charges.

Mr. Twyne was a security guard with a valid handgun permit for the job and was legally allowed to transport his handgun under NJ Statute, Chapter 58 according to the above article.

Recommendation for the Roselle Park Borough: Merge your police dept. into the Union County Sheriff's Office. It can be done on a "contractual basis" and will save your town thousands if not millions of dollars. Do not use the Union County Police. They should be immediately merged into the Sheriff's Office--this was done in Essex County and Bergen County. Why? "Duplication of Services", Cost Factor (Sheriff's Office is less expensive) and a " Civil Rights" issue. See Sheriff's Office Information on Supplemental Coverage & Mergers -- PDF (2017/2020 Tri-fold Tract) & County Police vs. Elected Sheriff--PDF

Note: The Prosecutor should be removed from office. Also, it is better to have the State's Chief Prosecutors elected then appointed such as PA and NY. 47 States elect their Chief Prosecutor.

A crowdfunding effort on GoGetFunding.com to has raised $57,000 for Mr. Twyne's defense.
